Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri to be announced on Republic Day

 Chandigarh, May 23 – The Haryana Government has invited nominations for recommendations for the prestigious Padma Awards, including Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri. These awards, among the highest civilian honours in the country, will be announced on 26 January 2027 on the occasion of Republic Day.

 

Sharing more details in this regard, an official spokesperson informed that recommendations for these Padma Awards may be sent to political 2.hry@gmail.com  or hrathee.cso@hry.gov.in  by 10 June 2026. Only nominations submitted through the online portal https://awards.gov.in  will be accepted by the Government of India. Online nominations/recommendations for these awards began on  March15, 2026, and the last date for submission is July 31,  2026.

 

The spokesperson said that the Padma Awards, namely Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri, are considered the highest civilian awards in the country. Started in 1954, these awards are announced every year on Republic Day. The objective of these awards is to honour “distinguished work”. The awards are conferred for exceptional and distinguished achievements or services in various fields such as arts, literature and education, sports, medicine, social work, science and engineering, public affairs, civil service, trade and industry. These awards are open to all individuals without any discrimination based on caste, occupation, position or gender.

 

The spokesperson further stated that all nominations/recommendations for the Padma Awards will be accepted only through the National Awards portal https://awards.gov.in.  In the nominations/recommendations, all required details must be clearly filled in the prescribed format available on the portal, providing complete details of the individual’s distinguished and exceptional achievements or services in their respective field. All steps of the online recommendation process are available on the portal. A copy of the relevant Act and Rules is also available on the website https://padmaawards.gov.in.

 

 The spokesperson added that, except for doctors and scientists, government employees and employees working in public sector undertakings are not eligible for the Padma Awards.
